Bourbon Salted Caramel Apple Bars

Ingredients:
- 3 apples peeled and chopped
- 1/4 C melted salted butter
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 eggs
For the Salted Caramel Bourbon Sauce:
- 1 T bourbon
- 1/4 C salted butter
- Dash of salt
- 1/3 C brown sugar
How to:
Make the caramel sauce by melting the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the brown sugar, salt and bourbon. Bring to a boil for 2-3 minutes stirring constantly. Once the mixture is bubbling, watch the color. As soon as it starts to turn a medium golden brown color, remove from the heat and pour into a bowl. Set aside.
For the bars:
Combine the melted butter, brown sugar in a bowl and mix. Add the eggs, continue to mix. Slowly add the baking soda and flour mixing just until combined. Batter should be thick. Fold in the apples.
Spread into an 8″ square pan, greased. Bake at 350 degrees, 25 minutes. Remove from oven and cool slightly. Pour the Salted Caramel Bourbon Sauce over the top and spread with an offset spatula. Let cool before cutting (if you can resist the temptation to dig in)
Enjoy!
